Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!
Have fun during this holiday but remember to do your homework as well.
Today is Boxing Day, it is not just a big holiday in Britain. It is also celebrated across the Atlantic in Canada. And, it is also celebrated down under in Australia and New Zealand.

Boxing Day is on 26th December, the day after Christmas Day. It originated in Britain. Some people think that many years ago on this day, lords and ladies of big houses and estates gave a bonus to their employees. This was normally given in a box. The box contained fruit or food, or sometimes clothes, tools or something that was practical. However, nobody is sure about the origin.

Finally, if you like singing, you could go carolling. Carols are traditional English Christmas songs. Groups of singers go from door to door singing carols and collecting money for charity. But remember to wear a big coat if you go carolling because it could get very cold.
